Covid-19: five new cases recorded
Five new coronavirus cases were recorded last night.
The infections were among 1,818 results that came back to health ministry officials.
All the cases came in on flights from the US and Britain on Tuesday.
Two were residents who arrived on the JetBlue flight from New York and who tested positive on arrival.
Another two residents on the BA flight also tested positive on arrival.
A resident who arrived on American Airlines from Charlotte gave a positive test on arrival.
The news meant the number of active infections have doubled to ten.
All the infected are being monitored by public health officials and none are in hospital.
Bermuda’s Pan American Health Organisation country status was upgraded this week to “sporadic cases”.
The World Health Organisation country status is scheduled to move from “community transmission” to “sporadic cases” next Monday – if detected cases only come in from overseas, are sporadic or linked to cases from overseas or sporadic infections and there no signs of more on-island transmissions.
