Burt to meet protesters today
Protesters gathering today at the grounds of Cabinet over the island’s restrictions against the pandemic will be met by David Burt, the Premier.
Mr Burt said he and Cabinet would pause the weekly Cabinet meeting to see demonstrators.
The protest was called earlier this month for 11.30am by “concerned citizens”.
An online flyer for the demonstration said vaccinated and unvaccinated were all equal.
Mr Burt said he had heard from organisers last week asking him to receive documents outside Cabinet.
He added: “Peaceful protest and assembly is the cornerstone of a free society, and I respect the rights of those who intend to be there tomorrow as part of this peaceful gathering.
“The organisers have asked that the government consider their submissions, and I can assure them that we will do so.”
