Essential workers honoured with special stamp

The Bermuda Post Office has paid tribute to Bermuda’s essential workers with a special stamp release.

The BPO has revised the 50 cent shell stamp, which depicts a Bermuda Cone shell, and overprinted it with the title “Honouring All Essential Workers”.

The stamps were released with a special envelope that features the Star of Life – a symbol adopted by several countries to represent emergency and medical services.

The envelope also contains a message thanking front-line workers for their efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Wayne Furbert, the Minister for the Cabinet Office, said: “Many countries around the world have taken the opportunity to celebrate and honour their essential workers by producing a stamp.

“The Stamp Design Advisory Committee has decided to use an already existing stamp and run an overprint message thanking our essential workers.

“We are grateful for all of their life saving and critical work over these last 17 months.”

The envelopes are now available at the Bermuda Post Office at a cost of $2 each.
