The US Consulate and the Customs and Border Protection agency teamed up to donate supplies of bottled water to Covid-19 test centres last week.

Karen Grissette, the US Consul General, and CBP port director Cletus William said the donation was a gesture of thanks to essential workers who were helping keep Bermuda safe during the pandemic.

Ms Grissette said: “The public testing sites and vaccine locations continue to play a big role in Bermuda’s success in managing the spread of Covid-19.

“We extend our gratitude to the Government and those operating the public testing sites over the long holiday weekend with this small donation.”

Travellers have faced long lines at Perot Post Office this week as the number of people coming to the island for Cup Match as has risen.

Mr William added: “Over the past year, US CBP has donated supplies and equipment to support shared security cooperation, relief efforts and essential workers.

“This is another small token of our appreciation to the government of Bermuda, and we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday.”
