Kinder chocolates recalled
A popular chocolate egg has been pulled from store shelves over fears of a potential salmonella contamination.
Kinder products, which include chocolate eggs and bars, have been removed from Lindo’s grocery stores and the Phoenix Store
In a statement, the supermarket said that it had received a “mass recall notice for all Kinder products”.
A company spokeswoman said: “'We urge any of our customers who have purchased any of these items from Lindo's stores to return them as soon as possible for a full refund and not to consume them.
“If the products have already been consumed and you are concerned, please consult your GP.”
The statement said that manufacturer Ferrero had issued a mass recall notice for all Kinder products that were manufactured at one of its sites in Belgium between June 2021 and today.

A spokeswoman for pharmacy chain the Phoenix Stores added that it had also been asked to withdraw products.
The spokeswoman said: “The Phoenix Stores advises its customers to not consume and return the following items for a full refund: Kinder Surprise Disney Frozen Egg 100g, Kinder Surprise Justice League Egg 100g and Kinder Mini Eggs 75g.”
The statements did not give details on why the products had been removed.
But according to BBC reports, the recall was made because of a salmonella scare.
Products were withdrawn from UK and US shelves last week.
The BBC report stated: “Ferrero has recalled some of its Kinder chocolates from shops in the US over a potential salmonella contamination.
“Kinder Happy Moments Chocolate Assortment and Kinder Mix Chocolate Treats basket are being voluntarily recalled, Ferrero North America said.
“It comes after the firm recalled its Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs from UK stores earlier this week.”
The report added that manufacturer Ferrero made the decision after salmonella was detected at a plant in Belgium.
It came after more than 60 people in Britain, mostly young children, became infected with salmonella in an outbreak linked to the Kinder Surprise treats.
