Hospitals Auxiliary awards scholarships to health students
Scholarships totalling $10,000 have been awarded to three students by the Hospitals Auxiliary of Bermuda.
Chelsea Basden, who is doing pre-med biology at Denison University, Ohio, received $5,000.
Saraé Botelho was given $2,500 for studying science and nursing at Georgia State University and Naysaa Tucker, who is at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, got $2,500.
Davida J. Simons, the president of HAB, said: “We are very proud of these young ladies and wish them every success in their future endeavours.”
The three students are senior candy stripers and the annual awards can be given to candy stripers currently enrolled in the programme who have completed a minimum of two years.
Scholarships must be applied to the cost of education only, such as tuition, books and school fees.
There are currently 119 candy stripers enrolled in the HAB programme.
The HAB takes in some 40 students annually.
