Tribute to medical trailblazer on Fresh TV
Created: Mar 31, 2023 07:23 AM
A tribute in memory of Faith Burgess-Clarke, a pioneering Black woman in medicine, will air tonight and this weekend on Fresh TV.
Dr Burgess-Clarke, who died in 2021, pressed on through discrimination to qualify as a chiropractor in 1954.
As well as being the island’s first in the field, she served in the Adult Education School and the Professional Women’s Club.
Her daughter, Carol Clarke, thanked Elmore Warren of Fresh TV for airing the roughly one-hour programme Faith is the Answer: Done in Loving Memory of Dr Faith Burgess-Clarke.
The memorial, which first showed in March 2021, features song, poetry and dance with a variety of artists.
It will show tonight at 7.30pm and on Sunday at 6.30pm.
