Hospital consultant nominated for top award
A consultant urologist at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital has been nominated as one of the best doctors in the Caribbean.
Jonathan Makanjuola, who helped establish the Daily Male free clinics to help uninsured and underinsured men on the island get tested for prostate cancer, is a finalist for outstanding global clinical specialist at the Caribbean Global Awards.
Dr Makanjuola is nominated alongside obstetrician Earl Braithwaite, oncologist Bert Petersen Jr and vascular surgeon Steve Budhooram.
The Caribbean Global Awards ceremony is aimed at highlighting the achievements of Caribbean nationals, descendants and businesses. It will take place on September 30 at the Royal Leonardo Hotel St Paul’s in London.
Other award categories include outstanding global health advocate, best Caribbean business, outstanding under-35 change-maker and the lifetime achievement award.
