Free health fair to include screenings, yoga and music
Bermuda’s African Methodist Episcopal churches have united to host a community health fair tomorrow.
The free event at the Bermuda College, will feature more than 25 vendors and organisations dedicated to promoting aspects of wellbeing including dental care, nutrition, fitness, mental health, asthma, diabetes and eye care.
There will also be health screenings, yoga, live music and entertainment along with prizes and giveaways.
The Reverend Howard Dill, the presiding elder of the Bermuda AME Church, urged all residents to attend the event.
He said: “Our mission is to empower and encourage our members and community to lead healthy lives, aligning with the words of 3 John 1:2: ‘Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers’."
Wannita Smith, an optometrist and owner of Spexx Eyecare, is the event’s committee chairwoman and sponsor.
She said: "Your health is your wealth. We created this inaugural health fair because we believe that true holistic health encompasses the wellbeing of both body and soul, just as the Bible reminds us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: ‘Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit?’.
“Let's come together as a community to prioritise our mind, body and spirit. Together, we can achieve happiness and true wellness.”
The fair will be held at the Bermuda College gymnasium on Saturday from 10am to 2pm.
