The first internationally accredited surgical facility in Bermuda not within the hospital has been established, marking a “significant milestone” in local healthcare.

Arscott Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery successfully completed the accreditation process established by QUAD A, a global authority in safety standards, providing a service additional to that provided by King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Ramon Arscott, the owner and medical director of Arscott, is a board-certified surgeon and renowned figure in plastic surgery.

Facilities undergoing accreditation through QUAD A must demonstrate an understanding of the requirements through records review, observation of operations and an on-site inspection of the facility and equipment.

The primary aim of accreditation is to qualify that patients are being treated in a safe environment that is compliant with applicable laws, industry standards and relevant best practices.

The facility said Dr Arscott has worked “tirelessly” to establish his state-of-the-art surgery in Bermuda.

“Drawing from his extensive experience, he envisioned a centre that not only met the highest standards of surgical care but also set new benchmarks in patient safety and satisfaction,” it said in a statement.

“The accreditation of Bermuda's Arscott Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery not only signifies a major milestone in the country's healthcare landscape but also underscores Dr Arscott's dedication to providing the highest-quality care to his patients.

“With a strong commitment to excellence, innovation and safety, Dr Arscott's facility is poised to transform the surgery experience in Bermuda, offering patients access to world-class surgical care right on their doorstep.

“By earning accreditation, Arscott Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery has demonstrated its adherence to the rigorous patient safety standards set by QUAD A.

“Renowned for its thorough processes, expert surveyors and consultative approach, QUAD A stands out as a global leader in accreditation of outpatient healthcare facilities.”

Tom Terranova, QUAD A’s chief executive, said: "Accreditation is an essential credential for most healthcare facilities in the United States.

“Facilities recognise our patient-first approach to accreditation, which differs from the often-bureaucratic inspection process many facilities face.

“We are proud to provide a process that is streamlined, effective and beneficial to the facility and the patients they serve.”
