Two wheelchairs donated to Summerhaven

Residential care home Summerhaven Trust received two wheelchairs thanks to a joint effort between a technology group and a law firm.

The donation was headed by Belinda Tartaglia, the director of MM&I Technology Group, and Mark Pettingill, the chairman of Chancery Legal.

A spokeswoman for Summerhaven said that residents who used powered wheelchairs were left immobile during the lengthy period when they were repaired.

She added: “A lack of spare wheelchairs can result in that resident being confined to their bed or room for an extended period.

“The two new wheelchairs, one of which is a reclining model for Summerhaven’s special-needs residents, will help to ease this problem.”

Colette Simmons, the executive director of Summerhaven, and the residents of the care home thanked the companies for their donations.

Ms Simmons said that their generosity supported the facility’s goal towards helping those with disabilities lead productive lives.
