Flooding washed through the waiting room area of the Emergency Department of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital on Saturday evening, but no patients were affected, according to the Bermuda Hospitals Board.

The spillage of water, caused by a broken toilet valve in the public bathroom, began at about 5.30pm but did not reach the clinical area of the department.

Patients in the waiting area were moved elsewhere and people arriving at Emergency were directed to a different entrance.

The bathroom leak was fixed, water suctioned out and the area cleaned before reopening at about 10.30pm.

BHB apologised for any inconvenience caused.
