Charity to hold awareness event on World Asthma Day
Information and giveaways will be offered at an awareness event to mark World Asthma Day tomorrow.
Open Airways will host the gathering at Victoria Park, tomorrow, Tuesday, May 7, from 11.30am to 2pm.
The charity said: “This year’s theme is Asthma Education Empowers, concentrating on the reasons not to overuse blue relievers — Ventolin or Airomir — as well as the reasons not to under use prevention inhalers — Beclomethasone and Flixotidem.”
Trained educators will be on hand at the event to offer free consultations on the condition.
Visitors were invited to bring their inhalers “and learn how to control your asthma”.
A free pillow, a spacer and technique demonstration will be on offer, as well as a microfibre cloth, while supplies last.
“We will be reminding adults and children of the importance of spacers for all and will be discussing how to reduce triggers”, the charity said.
Musician Wendell “Shine” Hayward will perform for guests and 52 pupils from Warwick Academy will join in the celebrations.
Open Airways said the island will join about 80 countries to mark the day.
