Health council warns about false information
The Bermuda Health Council issued a warning yesterday over false information distributed on social media.
A spokeswoman said: “It has come to our attention that accounts not affiliated with the Bermuda Health Council have been sharing misleading content on various social-media platforms, falsely representing themselves as official channels of communication for our organisation.
“It is important to note that the incident at hand does not stem from a breach in health council security or our IT systems.
“Rather, it pertains to the unauthorised use of our logo in a misleading manner.”
She added: “We wish to emphasise that any official communications or notices will only be disseminated through our verified social-media handles or through official press releases distributed to local media outlets.
“We urge the public to exercise caution and refrain from engaging with any links associated with these unauthorised posts.
“Clicking on such links may lead to misinformation or potential security risks.
“Should anyone have concerns or questions regarding the validity of information linked to the Bermuda Health Council, we encourage them to reach out to us directly.”
People with any queries can e-mail the council at contactus@healthcouncil.bm or call 292 6420.
This week the Ministry of Education warned the public to be wary of a fake social-media notice promising free online classes.
