A newsletter has been launched to provide “vital” updates about the Bermuda Health Strategy and progress towards universal health coverage.

Healthy Horizons, from the Ministry of Health, was introduced to provide information and clarity on UHC and how it can enhance accessibility to core health services.

The newsletter will be mailed to residents and businesses throughout the year and will be available for download from the Bermuda Health Strategy’s Latest Updates tab.

It will also be provided to healthcare advocates to share with vulnerable members of the community who may not otherwise have access to the information.

Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, said: “Understanding the Bermuda Health Strategy 2022-2027 and the progress towards universal health coverage helps residents stay engaged and aware of the efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and quality throughout the island.

“We want our residents to actively participate in and support health reforms directly impacting their wellbeing.

“The Bermuda Government has consistently demonstrated its commitment to transforming Bermuda’s health system.

“Our goal is to ensure that all Bermuda residents have access to essential, high-quality health services without facing financial difficulties.

Ms Wilson said significant progress was already made including the initial mapping of three integrated care pathways, a joint strategic needs assessment and the ongoing development of a national digital health strategy for Bermuda.

Results from these initiatives, and invitations to participate, were shared with the public through media, the UHC stakeholder network and on the Health Strategy website.”

Ms Wilson added: “It is imperative that we reach as many of our residents and businesses as possible to ensure there is a clear understanding of why we are implementing universal health coverage in Bermuda and other reform initiatives.

“Everyone should have the opportunity to know how they will benefit from universal health coverage and other health system reform efforts.

“Together, we can meet the goal of having a healthier Bermuda where everyone has access to the essential health services they need.”
