Wellness Wednesdays aims to promote fitness in children

An initiative promoting children’s wellness through active lifestyles is taking place every Wednesday this month.

The Coalition for the Protection of Children will run the Wellness Wednesdays programme throughout the month.

Every Wednesday will feature a different outdoor fitness activity, providing an opportunity for children and camps to engage in fun and invigorating exercises.

Starting today, the series will feature Soca Fit with Energise Wellness Solutions, Jump 2B Fit with the Bermuda Jump Rope Federation, yoga with Empowered Me Wellness, and an exclusive cricket lesson with Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club.

Stephany Outerbridge, programme manager at the coalition, said: “The Wellness Wednesday Series is in its third year of creating a positive impact on the wellbeing and physical health of children in our community.

“By offering a range of physical activities, we aim to encourage young individuals to discover the joy of exercise, embrace healthy habits and develop a lifelong love for fitness.

“The series provides an excellent opportunity for camps and children of all ages and backgrounds to come together, experience new activities and enjoy the outdoors in a safe and engaging environment.”

All activities will be held at Victoria Park from noon. Participants are encouraged to bring water, sportswear, hats and enthusiasm.

The events are open to all children and camps free of charge as part of the coalition’s commitment to promoting children's wellness.

The charity has invited the whole community to participate, saying: “Together, let's create a healthier and happier community”.
