Double serving of free wellness events this month
Informative gatherings on building better health have been organised for the community this month by the Department of Health.
A government spokeswoman said mental health will be discussed at the National Sports Centre on September 16, and a family-friendly event will take place on Front Street six days later.
Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, said: “At the heart of every thriving community is a shared belief that good health is a fundamental right, and ensuring this right requires our collective effort.
“Together, we can create a healthier future by promoting access to reliable health information, supporting one another in making informed lifestyle choices and advocating for policies that protect and enhance our wellbeing.
“When we unite as a community, we harness the power to make lasting changes that benefit us all.
“I encourage the public to join us this month in celebrating wellness, for healthier lives, healthier families and a healthier community.”
People can sign up for the September 16 discussion, “Let’s Talk Mental Health”, through SignUp Genius, by e-mailing healthpromotion@gov.bm or calling 278-4900.
Space at this event, which will take place from 5.45pm to 8pm at the Sports Centre pavilion, is limited.
The second gathering, geared as a family event, runs from 1pm to 4pm on Front Street.
It comes with wellness-inspired entertainment, health screenings, activities for all ages, resources on healthy living, food vendors and giveaways.
