Women's ‘A' DivisionSwallows 3Budgies 2Swallows outduelled Budgies in a hotly contested match.Swallows took the lead in the 28th minute when Jennifer Chisnall opened her side's account.Amanda Correia doubled the lead in the 47th before Erica Furtado got Budgies on the board in the 56th.Laura Haynes restored the Swallows two goal lead in the 60th, while Keishae Robinson scored in the 68th but her side couldn't find the all impotant leveller.Canaries 2Ravens 2Canaries and Ravens battled to a well-deserved draw.In a closely fought game between these rival teams, Mary-Ellen Jackson scored in the 16th minute to give Canaries the leade before Natasha Hallinan doubled the Canaries lead in the 35th.It would be Ravens' Georgia Harris who would bring her side level, scoring in the 40th and then the equaliser in the 64th.Canaries were unlucky to score in the final stretch of the game with two break away runs from Jackson, supported by Joanne Smith-Barrow and Lisa Marshall in the forward line.Wildcats 3Swifts 1Wildcats beat out a spirited Swifts side, who played with ten players.Swifts took the lead in the fourth minute when Iman Smith drove down the right hand side and put in a hard cross which Raven Pearman steered into the net.Swifts gained a series of penalty corners in the first 20 minutes of the second half, but failed to convert and paid the price in the 58th minute when Wildcats' Susanna Almeida scored from open play.Wildcats scored a second field goal off the stick of Maria Pichery in the 66th minute and added another by Karen Campbell from a quick free hit two minutes later to end the match as a contest.Women's ‘B' DivisionSwallows 1Bluebirds 3Sarah Smith scored a brace as Bluebirds beat Swallows.Bluebirds opened the scoring in the 20th minute from a well executed penalty corner by Kris Soares after receiving the ball from Laura Bardgett who caught the Swallows defence off guard.Swallows' Kelli Nusum would equalise in the 22nd minute after being awarded a penalty stroke for feet by Bluebirds in front of the goal.Bluebirds' Kourtney Fassler split the Swallows defence with a well-timed pass to Sarah Smith who blasted the ball into the net in the 41st minute from the far right hand side of the circle before Smith again scored after her shot bobbled past both Bluebirds and Swallows players into the goal to secure the win.Swifts 5Ravens 1Iman Smith scored a hat-trick as Swifts thrashed Ravens.Ryanne Bardgett put Swifts up after a pass from Raven Pearman in the second minute.Iman Smith scored from a broken penalty corner play in the eighth minute with a powerful low shot, and in the 22nd minute Smith took a free hit into the circle unopposed and fired her second of the match.Only five minutes later Smith received the lay off from a penalty corner and fired in another unstoppable shot to bring up her hat-trick to put Swifts firmly in command. Ravens fought back in the second half and Katie Masters opened Ravens scoring with a powerful penalty corner strike in the 43rd minute.As the game became much more competitive, both teams created scoring opportunities to no avail until Alex Francis went on a solo run and pushed the ball into the net to end the scoring.Longtail/Canaries 3Canaries 2The young promising Longtail/Canaries did just enough to get cross Canaries to earn their victory.They took the lead in the 31st minute when Pier Simons executed a field goal from a cross in the circle.Rebecca Gibbons doubled the lead in the 28th minute, but Canaries came back together in the second half and Lauren Faris scored from a penalty corner in the 60th. Angie Alvarez then equalised for Canaries in the 63rd minute, before Gibbons scored the winner in the 65th.Men's DivisionChameleons 6Upstarts 0Richard Cox scored twice in Chameleons thrashing of Upstarts.Upstarts start were always going to be against it with only eight men and no goalkeeper to start the game.Cox gave his side the lead in the 7th minute before Ryan Piper doubled in the 24th minute.Robin Smallman scored Chameleons' third field goal in the 40th, while Cox scored his second field goal in the 45th to put the match beyond reach.Paul Deans would score the fifth field goal in the 50th minute and Adam Griffiths would score the final goal in the 68th to complete the route.Panthers 1Rebels 0Jeremy Shrubb scored the lone goal of the game as Panthers outlasted Rebels.Rebels did not capitalise on early efforts when Panthers began the game without a ‘keeper and short two men.This would be their downfall as a field goal in the 14th minute by Panthers' Jeremy Shrubb of the first half would turn out to be the decider in a hard close fought game that the Rebels threatened to draw, or win by creating a number of chances through some excellent hockey passing.
