Bermuda open CAC Games Qualifier with double-header against Jamaica

The schedule has been released for the Central American and Caribbean Games Qualifier, which will be held at the National Sports Centre over Easter, with the notable exception that Guatemala will not take its place in what is now a five-nation event for men and women.

Competition will be launched by Puerto Rico taking on Guyana in the women’s qualifier at 1pm on April 14, followed by the Puerto Rican men facing Dominican Republic at 3pm.

Then come Bermuda’s women and men in a double-header against Jamaica at 5pm and 7pm respectively to bring what is hoped will be a thrilling climax to the opening day.

Good Friday, April 15, is a rest day before the countries return to bring festivities to a close over the weekend.

The top two men’s and women’s teams will earn a spot at the next CAC Games, which will be held in San Salvador, El Salvador, from May 6 to 21 next year.

Inquiries have been made over the omission from qualifying of Guatemala, whose men were seventh at the 2018 CAC Games in Barranquilla, Colombia, and whose women were eighth.
