BDA Spirits shock Positive Dental Image
BDA Spirits showed no love for an equally depleted Positive Dental Image when they triumphed 10-2 in a Bermuda Ball Hockey Association league contest at Pembroke Community Club on Valentine’s Day.
It was second-placed Positive Image’s fifth defeat of the season, and the sixth victory for BDA Spirits, who are down in fourth position.
Robbie Bailey and Adam Mattatall notched hat-tricks each, Nathan Ische had a goal as well as five assists, while Satish Balendran, Jeff Ingelman, and Derek Farmer were the other scorers for the victorious side.
Dustin Luck and a substitute player from another team scored for Positive Image.
Mark Waddington, one of the BDA players, said while both teams were without some of their regular players, they were still surprised to record such a huge result.
"Even though they were missing some key players, we're excited to have such a convincing win against a top team,’’ Waddington said.
“Our team is really starting to come together following the mid-season draft. Key strategic changes following the break are really paying dividends, we're really looking forward to tail end of season heading into play-offs, where we expect big things.
“We were missing some key players too, notably Jean-Michael Tremblay, Jeff Morash, Hart Freedman, not to mention our regular goalie Scott Steele.
“Our opponents were also missing six or seven of their players. Some key players absent for them were Mathieu Desjardins, Tom Duggan, Chris Allington, and Ryan Sulley.”
In another match played on Wednesday, Hamilton Princess, the team at the bottom of the standings, defeated defending champions Appleby 3-2.
Action continues today with two matches lined up. League leaders Frontier clash with CG Insurance, before Applied Computer Technologies take on Spine and Sport.
On Sunday, there are two fixtures, all in the morning. CG are up against ACT, with the second game on that day featuring Hamilton Princess and BDA Spirits.
