Argo Group promotes Tom McCartney
Bermudian-based specialty re/insurance underwriters Argo Group International Holdings Ltd have appointed Tom McCartney as group head of ceded reinsurance.
He takes over from Katie Partington Howarth, who has accepted the position of chief underwriting officer with Axis Re.
Tim Carter, executive vice-president and chief underwriting officer at Argo, said: “Tom has been closely involved in shaping Argo’s reinsurance strategy. His strong technical skills and relationships in the market make him ideally suited for this important role. We look forward to working with Tom as we look to build on our past success.”
Mr Carter added: “We would also like to thank Katie for her contributions and wish her the best in the future.”
Mr McCartney will be based in Chicago. He joined Argo last February and has served as vice-president of ceded reinsurance for the Americas.
Before joining Argo, he served as vice-president of ceded reinsurance for Allied World in Bermuda from 2012 until 2018. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in economics and political science.
