Independent insurance company manager Strategic Risk Solutions has added to its Bermuda office with the appointment of Anna Pereira to the newly-created position of senior vice-president, insurance-linked securities.

Ms Pereira takes up her role on March 1, and joins the ILS and fund administration team led by managing director Jonathan Reiss.

She will be responsible for supporting SRS’s ongoing expansion in the ILS and fund administration sectors.

He added: “Together with Matthew Charleson, who joined us in December; Derek Bridgeman, who’s based in Dublin; and Peter Child, who will join us in July and will be based in Guernsey, SRS is well positioned to be the service provider of choice for growing ILS businesses.”

The company said Ms Pereira has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance, reinsurance, alternative risk transfer and capital markets in Bermuda.

She is currently a director and co-founder of MANA Consulting Ltd and for the last six years has specialised in ILS and collateralised reinsurance for transformer entities and fronting carriers.

Ms Pereira was head of treasury for Horseshoe Group and, prior to that, was head of captive and insurance banking at HSBC Bank Bermuda Ltd where she was instrumental in leading the bank’s ILS initiative and record growth in Bermuda and the US, SRM said.

She has also held various underwriting positions with Chubb Financial Solutions, Quanta Re, and Everest Re in Bermuda and has experience in financial guarantee, financial lines and casualty insurance/reinsurance underwriting, the company said.

Ms Pereira currently leads marketing and overseas promotion for ILS Bermuda Ltd, which operates as a non-profit organisation, and has served on its steering committee since its inception.

She studied management economics at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada and holds an associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation.

SRS provides management and consulting services to a wide range of insurance company structures, from single parent captives to complex commercial insurers and reinsurers, it said.

In addition to Bermuda, SRS has operations in the United States, Europe, Barbados, Cayman Islands and South Africa.
