Bermuda company streamlines Trinidad commuter payments
A leading international online multi‐currency payment and risk management solutions provider, formed and based in Bermuda since 1998, has provided consumer pre‐authentication solutions for the online internet payment industry to Trinidad and Tobago’s major mass transport service provider.
First Atlantic Commerce Ltd is a Bermuda-based, feature-rich e-commerce payment gateway that delivers customised and flexible online credit and debit card processing to companies across the Caribbean and Central America.
FAC has partnered with the islands’ Public Transport Service Corporation and the Republic Bank to allow customers to make cashless payments in advance using their debit/credit card via the PTSC’s website.
The service was launched last week and PTSC said those who use public transport or who take tours, charters and tender packages will have the convenience of paying for these services online.
The commuter system announced: “Customers will no longer need to leave the comfort of their homes or offices to visit the Port of Spain, Sangre Grande, San Fernando and Tobago depots to pay for tours, charters and tender packages — a major benefit of PTSC Online. This is another step in the PTSC’s journey towards digital transformation.”
The PTSC touted the service and First Atlantic Commerce in the Daily Express: “FAC provides a robust payment processing platform called cGate®.
“cGate® is a high-speed and secure platform-independent internet payment gateway. Our integration to this secure gateway enables us to offer customers a range of multicurrency checkout options on its website including Visa and MasterCard®.”
The statement said the payment system is equipped with key security features that include secure, real-time, multicurrency credit card processing, and a number of security features including high-level encryption and an address verification service, a tool provided by credit card processors and issuing banks to merchants in order to detect suspicious credit card transactions and prevent credit card fraud.
The card identification verification and 3D Secure authentication builds an additional layer of security into the payments process, which supports fraud protection by ensuring that merchants only accept payments from legitimate sources.
The PTSC anticipates that this pay portal will make it so much more convenient for persons wishing to conduct business with the PTSC. This in turn will increase the level of customer satisfaction experienced by customers, they say.
FAC’s cGate® SecureRisk suite for payments processing was launched here in Hamilton in 2008.
The company was formed to create secure card-based payment solutions for online businesses. FAC provides merchants with multicurrency payment solutions, tokenisation services and PCI validated Point to Point Encryption solutions. Also, FAC provides merchants and banks with fraud management services and fraud control systems in multiple jurisdictions across the Latin American Caribbean region.
In Trinidad and Tobago, some buses are outfitted with on-board computer systems that track and record various data on the performance of the bus so the information can be analysed and recorded for further improvements.
Daily first line checks are carried out on each bus to ensure efficient performance and reliability on the road.
Planned maintenance is carried out in a timely manner utilising both a time and mileage-based system where full mechanical, electrical, air-conditioning, body and service checks are carried out by skilled technicians in their respective fields.
