Evan Greenberg to chair US-Korea Business Council
Evan Greenberg, the chairman and chief executive officer of Chubb Limited and Chubb Group has been elected chairman of the US Chamber of Commerce’s US-Korea Business Council.
“I am honoured to accept the appointment at this moment in US-Korea relations as the two countries celebrate the 70th anniversary of the alliance, and expand collaboration to address shared challenges with a strong focus on our economic partnership,” said Mr Greenberg who takes up the post on January 1.
“As USKBC chairman, I look forward to promoting improved bilateral trade and investment conditions and seeking opportunities to expand co-operation in key areas such as digital, global health, and climate change and energy transition.”
Charles Freeman, the US Chamber senior vice-president for Asia, said: “The US Chamber of Commerce welcomes Evan Greenberg as the new chairman of the USKBC.
“We look forward to working with him to strengthen US-Korea economic and business ties and elevate the council’s work to new heights.
“I am confident that his leadership, vision, and extensive international business experience in Asia will bring immense value to his role as incoming USKBC chairman.”
Mr Greenberg will serve a two-year term, succeeding outgoing USKBC chairman Octávio Simões, president and CEO of Tellurian Inc.
The USKBC is comprised of leading US companies operating in Korea and is the primary US-based business organisation promoting strong economic ties between the two countries.
The organisation said it ensures that the US-Korea Free Trade Agreement continues to deliver benefits to both economies and works to promote policies that support expanded bilateral trade and investment, innovation, and private sector-driven growth in both economies.
