Seadrill Ltd, the Bermudian-based offshore drilling company, has promoted Marcel Wieggers to senior vice-president, Operations.
He will report directly to Simon Johnson, the president and chief executive officer.
The news comes as the company announced that executive vice-president and chief operating and technology officer, Leif Nelson, has chosen to leave Seadrill rather than relocate to Houston.
Seadrill previously announced its decision to close its London office and consolidate its corporate office in the Texas city.
The company said Mr Wieggers had been with Seadrill since 2009, most recently serving as vice-president, Operations.
