Teekay donates to charities
Teekay Corporation, the Bermudian-based provider of international crude oil marine transportation services, has donated $15,000 to charities as part of the company’s annual corporate social responsibility programme.
The company donated $7,000 to Vision Bermuda to support its critical needs programme, which assists individuals who need essential vision services that include specialised equipment for the vision impaired.
Teekay donated $5,000 to The Eliza DoLittle Society for its annual holidays without hunger campaign. The charity is aiming to ensure 375 families have food on their table this Christmas.
The company donated $3,000 to the Friends of Hope Academy for the purchasing of equipment that supports the therapeutic needs of the students at Dame Marjorie Bean Hope Academy.
Teekay says its efforts strengthen and give back to communities where their employees live and work.
Angelique Burgess, senior corporate manager of Teekay Corporation, said that Teekay is committed to supporting charitable organisations that align with Teekay’s “spirit” values.
She added that each of the charities selected have made a direct impression on the team at the Bermuda office.
The charities expressed their appreciation for the donations.
Teekay provides international crude oil marine transportation services primarily through its directly-owned fleet and its controlling ownership interest in Teekay Tankers Ltd, one of the world’s largest owners and operators of mid-sized crude tankers.
With offices in eight countries and approximately 2,300 seagoing and shore-based employees, Teekay provides a comprehensive set of marine services to the world’s leading oil companies.
