An expert in the field of influence and persuasion is to deliver the keynote address at ILS Bermuda's Convergence event in October.

The organisation said Paul Craven was an expert in how real people make real decisions in the real world.

With nearly 30 years of experience in the asset management industry with giants like Schroders, Pimco, and Goldman Sachs, he combines his investment experience with his expertise in behavioural science and the business psychology of persuasion.

ILS Bermuda said Mr Craven was a founding member of the Cialdini Institute and was dedicated to helping business professionals become more influential using ethical, research-backed strategies pioneered by American psychologist Robert Cialdini.

The organisation said: “Paul’s talk will explore the behavioural economics of decision-making, which is crucial for analysts, underwriters, and risk executives in the ILS and alternative risk transfer markets.

“During this session, attendees will learn that understanding and predicting human behaviour is as important as the quantitative analysis of risk and return.

“Paul’s deep understanding of cognitive biases, such as overconfidence, confirmation bias, and loss aversion, can help professionals recognise and mitigate these biases in their own decision-making processes, ultimately driving better outcomes in their investment strategies.

“Whether you’re an underwriter, risk executive, modeller, analyst or a business leader, Paul’s insights will enhance your ability to interpret data and the market more objectively.

“This knowledge will be invaluable in helping you to navigate the psychological underpinnings of market behaviour, leading to more informed, rational, and profitable decisions."

Convergence will take place from October 7-9 at the Hamilton Princess Hotel & Beach Club.
