Virginia Drosos is to retire as chief executive and as a member of the board of directors of Bermudian-based Signet Jewelers Ltd, the world’s largest retailer of diamond jewellery, effective November 4.

The board has appointed J.K. Symancyk to succeed Ms Drosos as chief executive and he will also join the board at that time.

Signet said Ms Drosos would continue as an adviser through the end of the company’s fiscal year to support a smooth transition.

Mr Symancyk most recently served for six years as chief executive of PetSmart, Inc.
