A Bermudian marketing strategist, business coach and designer has been recognised for her work in North Carolina.

Kennette J. Burgess, the owner and chief executive of Focus Marketing & Development Solutions Inc, was among the 2024 recipients of the Winston Under 40 Leadership Awards, presented by Truliant Federal Credit Union and hosted by the Greater Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce.

The awards honoured 25 leaders under 40 who excel in their professional fields, contribute meaningfully to their communities, and embody leadership values that inspire growth and innovation.

Ms Burgess expressed gratitude for the honour, noting how it highlighted the exceptional talent and leadership potential that exists within Bermuda.

She said: “Winning this award is not just a personal achievement; it’s a celebration for Bermuda and for young, Black, female entrepreneurs everywhere.

“Although we come from a small island, there is a global world out there ready to see what Bermudians are made of and how we can help make the world a better place.

“This recognition is the perfect Christmas gift and a reminder to dream big, pray hard, work smart, and stay committed to purpose-driven leadership.”

Ms Burgess said she hoped her success would inspire other young Bermudians to aim high and pursue opportunities beyond the island’s borders.

“This award reminds us that Bermuda has leaders who can make a global impact. I encourage others to dream fearlessly, innovate boldly and take our island’s unique strengths to the world stage.”

In February, Ms Burgess was recognised as one of the top business leaders in North Carolina when The Triad Business Journal hosted its Annual 40 Under 40 Award Ceremony to honour 40 leaders in business and community in the Triad North Carolina region.
