Commitment to compliance: the Eurofi Financial Forum is one of the largest and most influential financial services conferences in Europe (File photograph)

A Government delegation led by David Burt, the Premier, is in Warsaw, Poland, and in the UK for a series of meetings focused on financial services and international co-operation.

The delegation is joined by representatives from the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

In Warsaw, Mr Burt is attending the Eurofi Financial Forum, one of the largest and most influential financial services conferences in Europe. It is a platform for the exchange of views between the public and private sectors on financial regulation and trends affecting the financial sector.

The Paris-based, non-profit organisation was formed in 2000, featuring closed-door events focused on European economic and financial policy. The high level seminar in Poland from April 9 to 11, is followed by a financial forum in Copenhagen from April 17 to 19.

The Forum brings together leading voices from the European Union, global standard-setting bodies, and the financial services industry to discuss emerging trends, regulatory frameworks and global financial stability.

While in Europe, the Premier will also hold meetings with EU policymakers, regulators, and private sector leaders across the banking, reinsurance and digital asset sectors.

Mr Burt said: “This visit is an important opportunity to reaffirm Bermuda’s longstanding commitment to compliance, co-operation, and tax transparency, and to ensure that our voice is heard in discussions that shape the future of global finance.”

He is scheduled to return to Bermuda on April 15.

Mr Burt is joined by the Financial Secretary Chidozie Ofoego, Aliyyah Ahad, the government’s head of European Affairs & Policy and Sierra Bell, policy adviser in the International Affairs and Regulatory Unit of the Ministry of Finance.
