Students train on new HVAC thanks to Mitsubishi
Bermuda College students now have access to one of the world’s most advanced HVAC systems, thanks to a new donation from Mitsubishi Electric Trane USA and local distributor Efficiency Ltd.
The state-of-the-art unit – one of Mitsubishi’s latest commercial HVAC systems, not yet widely available globally – was unveiled during a hands-on workshop hosted by the College’s Division of Business, Hospitality, and Technical Education.
“This is a prime example of how meaningful partnerships with industry leaders directly benefit our students and the broader community,” said Ornette Fough, HVAC instructor at Bermuda College.
“Thanks to Mitsubishi and Efficiency Ltd, our students are now among the first in the world to train on this new A2L system, using advanced refrigeration technologies that align with global environmental goals.”
The workshop was led by two Mitsubishi representatives: Jamie Cuesta, area sales manager, and Ray Alvarez, regional service manager, who trained students on a range of advanced topics. These included R-454B refrigerant technology, systems with lower global warming potential, safe handling practices for newer components and best practices for installing and maintaining next-generation commercial units.
The event marked the latest in a decades-long collaboration between the College and Mitsubishi, now in its 30th year. For the past eight years, the relationship has been supported by Efficiency Ltd, Bermuda’s official distributor of Mitsubishi Electric HVAC systems.
“This donation ensures our workforce remains future-ready,” Mr Fough added.
