BPSU announces new appointments

Two members of the Bermuda Public Service Union have been appointed to secretariat positions, the union announced yesterday.

Kevin Grant has been named the BPSU’s General Secretary, while Linda Bogle-Mienzer has been named the Labour Relations Organiser.

Mr Grant was appointed on May 12 after five years as assistant general secretary.

He served as president of the BPSU between 2011 and 2014, where he was credited for helping the Bermuda Industrial Union join the Bermuda Trade Union Congress and participating in talks between the BTUC and the Government.

Mr Grant also worked as the shop steward of the BPSU’s Department of Planning and its Chair of the Planning Division 11, as well as its third and first vice-president.

He has additionally served on the Government’s immigration board, labour advisory committee, the Public Service Superannuation Board and the Bermuda Hospitals Board’s Compensation Governance Committee.

Ms Bogle-Mienzer joined the BPSU in 2003 after she took up the position of shop steward after the death of Gladys Saunders.

She has served on the chair of the BPSU’s Immigration Division, Shop Stewards Committee and Public Relations Committee.

Ms Bogle-Mienzer has also served as the bully and harassment rapid response liaison officer and second vice-president, where she was responsible for about five divisions.

Ms Bogle-Mienzer has developed skills in several fields through her 18 years at the BPSU, including grievance handling and negotiation, workplace leadership, human rights and bullying and harassment prevention.
