A new executive committee has been announced by the Bermuda Trade Union Congress.

Kevin Grant, the general secretary, said that a biennial convention earlier this month included the election of officers to serve for the next term.

Nishanthi Bailey, of the Bermuda Union of Teachers, will be the BTUC president.

Timothy Seon, of the Prison Officers Association, will be first vice-president and Nakia Pearson, of the Fire Service Association, will be second vice-president.

Renee Jones, of the Bermuda Industrial Union, was elected as treasurer and Dante Cooper, of the BUT, will be assistant general secretary and assistant treasurer.

Mr Grant said: “The newly formed executive will hold its first executive board meeting in early March, and we look forward to the continued dialogue, open communication, and consultation, that will encourage and promote effective labour and community relations.”
