A jobs fair for the 2023 hotel and hospitality season is set for December 14 at the Hamilton Princess Hotel.

It marks the second annual employment drive in the sector, which was hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Representatives from the island’s restaurants will also take part.

Tim Morrison, the president of the Bermuda Hotel Association, said workers were in demand for jobs ranging from the culinary arts to front office, operational management, housekeeping, sales and marketing, finance, engineering, food and beverage, recreational services and spa.

Registration is not essential, but those interested can sign up online via the Bermuda Job Board.

Jason Hayward, the economy and labour minister, said the move was in keeping with the island’s National Jobs Strategy and Youth Employment Strategy.

The job fair is a partnership with the Department of Workforce Development, the Bermuda Tourism Authority and the BHA.

Jakai Franks, the BTA’s vice-president of operations, said tourism represented “not only a vital pillar for our economy, but it is a career path that can lead to great reward”.

“I am a personal testament to this. I could not be more elated for the Bermuda Tourism Authority to once again partner with Work Force Development to showcase our hospitality industry while simultaneously equipping our local community with the tools they need for their journey towards a viable career.”

The fair will be held at the hotel’s Princess Rooms.
