Registration for graduate employment programme opens
Registration has opened for a programme designed to support young people in their careers.
The 2024 Graduate Apprenticeship Programme, which is run by the Department of Workforce Development, is designed to ensure participants gain hands-on experience, develop valuable skills, build professional networks and advance their careers.
The application deadline is October 1.
Participants will engage in a ten-week work placement, sponsored by the DWD, to facilitate a seamless entry into their chosen profession.
The Ministry of Economy and Labour said the new name for what was formerly the Graduate Trainee Programme better reflected its core mission.
“While the title has changed, the programme's successful structure remains intact.
“Over its previous four cohorts, the initiative has helped 42 recent college and university graduates transition from academic study to real-world work environments.”
Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour, said: “The Graduate Apprenticeship Programme is vital to bridging the gap between education and employment for young Bermudians.
“By supporting their transition from the classroom to the workplace, we are addressing unemployment and investing in Bermuda's future leaders.”
Mr Hayward said the programme's success spoke to the Government’s dedication to nurturing local talent.
Recent graduates who are unemployed are encouraged to apply for the programme through the DWD at dwd.bm/youth-employment.
