An eyesore in town

June 8, 2011Dear Sir,Wandering along Front Street this week and for the first time entered the new HSBC building. Ouch! I find it hard to believe that what they have done to this prime Front Street space could have been deliberate! Standing on the grounds of one of Bermuda's most venerable department stores, Trimingham's, it's hard to imagine these rows of garish red ATM machines at the Street entrance and the hollow empty spaces inside reminiscent of an airport were part of a deliberate design. I can't imagine the Chamber of Commerce are overjoyed by this eyesore stuck in the middle of their little colonial town. To top it off, I found the only local feature of the “world's local bank” was the forty minute wait for a grumpy teller.WONDERING & WANDERING IN SOUTHAMPTON
