We can’t take much more

June 23, 2011Dear Sir,The PLP Government will continue to blame everybody else in the world for our financial problems except themselves and their unbelievable mismanagement of our finances. During the years preceding the crash, the PLP Government received record sums of money, yet managed to spend all of that and close to a billion dollars more that had to be borrowed. Nobody seems to know where the billions, yes billions of dollars were spent and who has actually benefited from their wasteful practices. We the taxpayers are now being forced to pay for the PLP Government’s excesses and have to find around $70 million every year just to pay the interest charges on the loans. Heaven knows when we will be able to afford to pay off the loan itself. Those $70 million, every year, could have generated work to keep up to 1,000 Bermudians employed or assisted thousands of families who are now struggling to make ends meet. It is lost money, our money. The consequences of the PLP Government’s out of control spending during the “good years” are now hurting those very people who put their faith in the PLP to improve their lot in life. How much more of their mismanagement of the peoples business can we afford to take?LESS INCOMEPembroke
