A folk remedy that works
June 25, 2011Dear Sir,Back in the mid-1970s, I was first overboard on a night dive off St George’s supervised by that wonderful dive master Mo Schaeffer. I settled on a reef and waited for the other divers, I felt something under my right knee and found I had knelt on a sea urchin. I finished the dive with mild discomfort and as I was driving home I stopped at Hezekiah’s Kitchen in the Inverurie for a bite. I told Olive the waitress about my encounter with the sea urchin.Olive had a quick look and said “soap and sugar”. Being single at the time I went home and managed to find both soap and sugar. I made a poultice in a towel, wrapped it around my knee and went to sleep. Lo and behold, the next morning I awoke with 15 perfectly pink dots on my knee, the soap and sugar worked perfectly.R WHITINGPaget
