Thanks for concert support
August 24, 2011Dear Sir,First giving all honour and praise to the Almighty Creator, I greet you with a perfect peace and a perfect love. The Mishka/Fires of Africa show at Snorkel Park on August 19 was successful even though it did not deliver its full package. Let us be reminded of the weather that day, with numerous outdoor events being called off by mid-afternoon. The start-off time turned into set-up time, leaving inadequate time for the entire show as planned.Featured acts including Hannah, Mariela Zuleta, Caiside, Heroine Chic, Sonique Sanctuary, Flookie, Bigga Dread, Tiny T and Conscious Bermuda are all to be thanked for their excellent performances.Special thanks to Live Wires, Joy T. Barnum, Parsons and his Gombeycrew and also Ras Yohannes, all who even though they did not perform executed professional etiquette with punctuality, patience and support throughout. It is this nature of the Bermuda performer that we applaud and we look forward to working with them in the near future. In addition to the weather, time was the largest obstacle with only a few weeks looming before the show. It is with highest regard that we thank Gary MacPherson and his wife Camila of Endemic Productions for their support and infrastructure, without which this event could wellnot have happened at all. Their friends and colleagues who assisted both professionally and personally too numerous to mention did not go unnoticed and have our sincerest respect and appreciation. The crowd was varied in that there were young and old, local and expat, wealthy and not so wealthy, white-collar and blue-collar and, oh .. .there were black and white people there as well. (LOL)Dave Parquet, Entertainment Director of Snorkel Park, management and staff proved invaluable, supplying the ideal setting. His last minute negotiations greatly assisted in the event’s success. Ben Fairn and the entire Irie FM Radio crew are to be commended as the ‘foot-soldiers’ of the event, running our ads throughout the week preceding. Their involvement was vital and sets a true example of genuine media support for local artists fighting against the odds. Thank you!Eternal gratitude to Mishka, his entire family and friends, for their support and guidance throughout. Ryan, Leslie and Dean - Mishka’s musical support base ensured the audience a performance of international standard. Having Mishka bless us with his creative talent was only surpassed by being a part of the celebration of his homecoming after so many years. And finally to the FIRES OF AFRICA die-hardsthank you for your continued support. No worries ... soon come.TRUNEHFires of Africa
