October 19, 2011Dear Sir,Like many of my fellow ferry travellers, I was dismayed to read that ferry fares on the Pink Route are to double effective 1 November. I think that this is totally unreasonable, and can only think that Government is hoping to drive away all the passengers from this route so that they can abolish the service altogether. What other rationale would there be for imposing the highest fares ($5 each way) for the shortest trip on the oldest tattiest boats?Surely this profligate Government, with its penchant for flinging money at numerous questionable causes (football, cricket, replacing lightbulbs in Global House etc) could afford to provide a decent public service for the long-suffering public?MAROONED IN PAGET
