January 20, 2012Dear Sir,What is unbelievably sad is that many right thinking people who ardently support the Progressive Labour Party must now, at last, be beginning to understand that the PLP policies towards foreign capital and guest workers is all wrong. The PLP is driving the country towards bankruptcy in the fast lane and while most of us are suffering they are hurting their core supporters more than anybody else. It may be very annoying to be reminded, but Bob Richards was right in 2007 and had the PLP listened, Bermuda would have been in a far better place than it is now. What is sadder still is that the PLP Government will continue with their disastrous policies because to accept that they were wrong and the Opposition was right would be anathema to them as it would show their loyal supporters that after 13 years in power “their” Government has ended up being a social and economic failure. It doesn’t really matter what the PLP does between now and the General Election, capital and businesses will continue to leave this unfriendly island and relocate to where they are truly welcome. A new Government may, just may, be able to start a reversal of our collective fortunes but I suggest all the pro-Independence Bermudians hurry and get their British passports so they can seek work there.COUNTRY BEFORE PARTYPembroke
