April 16, 2012Dear Sir,I have followed Kristy (Miss Thang) Burgess’ career from the very beginning when she was employed at Power 95 with the Keevil (The Captain) Burgess. She started out as his apprentice, coming in answering the phones, getting his coffee, hoping to be on the air one day. That day finally came and that’s when The Captain and Miss Thang’s Morning Show was born. Those two together made magic! Eventually HOTT 107.5 appeared on the scene and I watched her career branch from the morning show, to an evening show and finally she landed the afternoon drive home with the longest shift.This young lady to me is simply amazing. I do not say this lightly. If anyone truly knows her story, you would be amazed at how far she has come and yet she still strives to break every barrier that has been placed in front of her. The Founder/President of The Young Phenomenal Women’s Association, Charity Drives, Feeding the Homeless, Miss Thang’s Christmas Wish List and making a difference here and in Atlanta with the less fortunate. All I can say is wow! A young woman who never asks anyone for anything but who is always willing to help someone in need. This is a woman I stand in awe of. What she does she doesn’t have to do, but yet she still does.Last week’s article has made me so angry that I will never advertise or support HOTT 107.5 again. I am so glad that Miss Thang has enough strength to stand up to the powers and fight for people that do not know the Employment Act and for the rest of us that are too scared. The same way Kristy ‘Miss Thang’ Burgess was awarded the Queen’s Certificate and Badge of Honour in 2011 it is time for Premier Paula Cox to set Glenn Blakeney straight. He needs to pay her what she is entitled to and more and be removed from his Ministry. How can you be for family and disregard your own staff for the sake of no respect? That is an oxymoron.
