Ideas to help tourism
April 22, 2102Dear Sir,We love Bermuda as a holiday destination and these suggestions, if implemented, will help to improve Bermuda’s Eco Recovery.1. Accept Canadian dollars at PAR and advertise this to Canadians.2. Implement to the Tourist Act an exemption to allow all stores to be open for tourists when tourists are in town (including Sunday 12 noon to 4pm). Post on website when cruise ships will be docked and where AND post how many people are arriving by plane daily.3. Offer courses to Bermudian’s on craft making (ie soap making, jewellery, textile, pottery). Tourists love to buy local crafts.4. Advertise on the weather channel (Toronto, Canada) temperature and conditions in Bermuda. Already the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America are shown.5. Make solar panels tax free to encourage purchaser to save on electricity costs. Have specifications where solar panels can be placed (ie on roof facing back of house).6. Raffle to raise money where ‘money is needed’. Raffle off one house (government owned) to Bermudians. Ticket prices could be $25 each, three for $50, seven for $100 or $100 each. The Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto and other organisations raise millions of dollars per raffle.7. Offer more packages similar to three dinners for $139 during slow season.I wish Bermudians all the best at one step at a time to Eco Recovery.STEPHEN W MOOREOntario
