Congratulations to Young Achievers
April 30, 2012Dear SirI’m a little behind in writing a Letter to the Editor about two Young Achievers. First I would like to congratulate Reid Perinchief, 21 who was featured in The Royal Gazette’s Young Achiever on Saturday, April 12, 2012. It stated that Mr Reid is a former watch leader on The Spirit of Bermuda. You attended the Berkeley Institute but struggled in school and therefore withdrew yourself at the age of 17. I’m glad that you learned a great deal while on the Spirit of Bermuda. How to deal with people, social skills, and staying focused is a great accomplishment. It also made you realise that you needed your General Equivalency Diploma to get you ahead in life, and therefore you accomplished getting it and now on your way to receiving your Associates degree from the New England Institute of Technology in air conditioning technology. I also read that BAC held your job while you were away studying. Mr Reid, you have a lot going for you. You are on your way to a great future. I hope that other young men who are in that same position that you were in, will learn from your example. Keep up the diligence. Go on and get your Bachelor’s Degree and become the business manager that you want to be. Good luck to you, and all the best.Mr Editor, I would also like to congratulate Willis Steede 18, who was recently honoured with two Outstanding Teen Awards from Teen Services. It was also acknowledged by The Royal Gazette’s Young Achievers on Saturday, April 21, 2012 that you Mr Steede are a leader to your peers and have achieved 250 hours of community services and not just the 20 hours required. You have gone over and beyond your duties. You’re also a Cadet in the Bermuda Regiment, Chief in Warner Gombey Troup, and a trumpet player in the Berkeley Marching school band. In the Bermuda Day Parade you will be doing a double, marching with your school band as well as dancing with the Warner Gombey Troupe. Wow! You will be very busy on that day. It’s too bad I won’t be able to see your face under the mask; I will get up and dance with you (Smile). Mr Steede, keep on keeping busy with all the positive things that you’re doing. I’m so happy for you. Good luck with your fashion show and your graduation from the Berkeley Institute.PATRICIA LEESandys
