Why I oppose the OBA

May 16, 2012Dear Sir,I ask of you once again to allow me some of your fine ink to address a few items. My Dear PLP family,Over the last weeks, like you, I have been somewhat amazed at the responses that have been printed in regards to my “Dear PLP” letter. The responses were both in the RG LTE section and on the OBA FB page.I say amazed for one simple reason. The letter was written to you, my “PLP family”, yet the most vocal replies have been from OBA supporters. I questioned whether or not it was mis-titled “Dear OBA” ... but later realised why so many OBA supporters chimed in.Family, I have been accused, along with anyone else who supports the PLP of being:Blind; Idiotic; Asinine; Co-conspirators; Thieves; Kool-Aid drinkers; “Sheeple”; and Dysfunctional.Whilst this was the general tenor of many OBA supporters, I refuse to believe this is the blanket opinion of all OBA supporters. But I have yet to see any condemnation from the OBA hierarchy for use of these terms. “Silence is consent.”For the record, I, alongside others have written to the OBA addressing many campaign issues.Their responses at best would range from silence to basically ignoring the questions. When asked how to grow the economy:We can start with carpooling of government vehicles, Mr Cannonier stated. We will suspend term limits and figure something out later, Bob Richards said.Their candidate Peter Barrett was touting that they would bring to life ITA and that alone will revitalise tourism. He failed to mention that it would incur handing back powers we have fought for right back to the UK.When asked about cacism and the history of the UBP, OBA candidates Alexis Swan and C. Anthony Francis both stated “racism no longer exists” and they know nothing about the history of the UBP.OBA candidate Scott Stewart claims the OBA has plans to build a new park where Pembroke Marsh Dump is.OBA candidate Jeff Sousa says there is no such plan.So you see, support of the PLP is not based on “blind loyalty” but more so because the OBA is fielding some ill-informed candidates. Essentially there is no other viable option for me but to support and vote PLP.The OBA love to preach that we are in the worst financial, social shape we have ever been in. Yet they put someone with zero parliamentary experience as their “Leader” and “Premier-In-Waiting”.Family, I could be wrong but I don’t wish to have a bus driver who still has a big L on his bike with training wheels.I will conclude my address in Part 3. Make sure to buy a copy of the RG. I promise you it will be worth the $1.CHRISTOPHER FAMOUSDevonshire
