The door is still open
July 23, 2012Dear Sir,After reading the story in today’s Royal Gazette headlined ‘Minister ordered payments — House committee finds’ … I wanted to blog in the comment section only to find that that section had been closed to comments for whatever reason. This is a bit off putting as The Royal Gazette has provided this vehicle to the public, only to be shut down without explanation which is not fair to the readers. I know for a fact that some bloggers go above the limits and write things what are not fit for print, but shutting down a comment section takes away from the bloggers who do not go above the limit. Because of the above, I am submitting my comment in its blog form for publication. My blog is as follows:I agree with what McQueen had to say and I feel Finance Minister Paula Cox should resign along with Derrick Burgess with his banana republic tactics. In any other country these people would not still be in their present positions. This last episode of incompetence/arrogance is probably just the tip of the iceberg of how public funds have been wasted and it is nothing short of outright robbery. As one blogger stated, Kim Wilson, Michael Scott and Wayne Furbert should cross the floor (mind you, Wayne just crossed and he might get dizzy if he crosses back so soon) because staying in the PLP Cabinet means they must condone the misdeeds that have taken place by this Government. But if they are just there only to collect a pay cheque, then where is the conscience?I also think Wayne Perinchief, Neletha Butterfield and Dale Butler — being so concerned about the welfare of Bermuda as we are led to believe — should put their money where their mouths are and cross the floor as it is clear to see that because of their popularity with the constituents, the PLP Government have only used these people as vote collectors. This Government started its downhill slide when Dr Ewart Brown walked in the door with Paula Cox behind him and unfortunately, the door is still wide open. The people were fed up with the UBP in 1998 and it was time for a change. Well, we are way past due for another change. Wake up Bermuda, in my opinion the BLDC report shows that we have a bunch of incompetent people running this Country and it should have been stopped yesteryear. We still need a Royal Commission of Inquiry. Governor Fergusson, are you paying attention?PAT FERGUSONWarwick
