An unsettling picture
August 13, 2012Dear Sir,Today’s editorial highlighting the continued decline of our Island's economy should be required reading for all prospective election candidates. Read in conjunction with your front page prediction last month that an election will not happen this summer, the overall picture is unsettling and very depressing. An election should be held sooner rather than later so that businesses and the general public can plan and protect their futures. The economy is the most important issue to be sorted and must be reenergised quickly before it collapses.Businesses need to ensure their viability. The general public need to have direction. The PLP seems incapable of addressing any of these issues. Not only have they been unable to demonstrate they understand the problems, they have been incapable of providing workable solutions to rectify them.Interestingly, Cyprus has recently applied for Euro bailout funds. Bermuda should pay close attention, not because of its location or ethnic background, but because it is a relatively small island spending more than it earns.WHO’S KIDDING WHOWarwick
