Buses need cooling down
August 10, 2012Dear Sir,I've come to rely on the bus as one of my main modes of transportation these days.I'm not going to lie — I enjoy transit bus rides, however, there are some aspects of public transportation that are absolutely terrible (and no, the bus operators are not one of them because surprisingly they are chipper and understanding considering the conditions that they have to endure.)It is upsetting that the bus operators are expected to drive under such conditions such as no air conditioning, windows that do not fully open and noisy buses that sound like airplanes. It is even more disturbing that the passengers, especially the elderly, have to tolerate these preposterous circumstances. Many of us feel faint while riding on the bus in these conditions, so we can only imagine how the operators feel. It is bad enough that half the time the buses are overcrowded, but then we have to deal with the heat as well. I would think that concern for our health and safety would force the Department of Public Transportation to address these matters. It is my wish that the Minister of Transportation along with the Director of Public Transportation will act promptly on this matter.OVERHEATEDHamilton Parish
