The choice really is clear

September 2, 2012Dear Sir,I like the headlines on Page 3 of Saturday’s Royal Gazette in regard to the Progressive Labour Party’s ad; “The choice is clear”. Exactly; the choice is clear and simple and easy. It is simple because there are only two choices; the PLP or the One Bermuda Alliance. The United Bermuda Party is dead. Now, of the two, the OBA is untried — it is untested. We don’t know how good they will be or how honest; they are an unknown factor. But the PLP is a known factor; we know what we will get if they are voted back in. More waste of our money, more indecisiveness, more murky waters, more hidden agendas, more cronyism and more debt.So of the two, who should get your vote; the untested party or the party that has proven it is leading us into ruin? For me it is clear. I will give the untested party a chance because there is a 50 percent chance they will be good — or at least better. With PLP’s record, there is a zero percent chance they will be good for us and our Island. A simple choice when you strip away any racecard or harping on unimportant trivia like the OBA has changed its name three times! Is this true? It does not matter; it is just one example of someone trying to blow dust in your eyes in order to blind you. Over the following weeks, just keep in mind how simple the choice is. Do not be confused by lies or distortions or unimportant ‘facts’. Take away the smokescreen and hot air and the “choice is clear”. I like the odds of 50 percent over the zero percent chance of getting our Island off the rocks. It is simple. It is clear.MARK EMMERSONPembroke
