A date with recovery

And the verdict is....November 13, 2012Dear Sir,Well the fateful day of reckoning has finally arrived with the dropping of the writ. December 17, 2012 is only over shadowed by November 9, 1998 our Date with Destiny!Presently the strategy for the government and their loyal supporters is to prosecute the case already won against the UBP.They convinced the electorate (jury) that the government in 1998 should be thrown out after 30 years and several elections won, never mind testimony of good governance. So as to not bore your readers with all the good accomplishments under their watch, we will simply say that the voters decided the verdict on the case prosecuted by the PLP and the UBP were found guilty and sentenced to dismissal from office and relegated to the opposition benches.Standing strong for Bermudians did not matter. What was crucial was their “Record”, perceived or imagined and the electorate spoke with absolute certainty their desire for change! Investments in infrastructure and people including much needed change and reform were either forgotten or ignored the verdict was in and that's was that. That, sir, is the price we pay for democracy and no need to be crybabies when it does not reward your side, this is politics in earnest and for adults only. Now then, fast forward to the present government’s record, that is what’s on trial and I believe the evidence is replete and substantial for conviction in the many areas of incompetence and wretched performance. The voters have a “Record” to examine and arrive at a verdict. Are we better off since 1998 or are we worse off? To the electorate, (jury) you will need to examine the evidence carefully and hopefully find them guilty of dismissal. This is our Date with Recovery and promise of a better way with an OBA administration. Stand up Family, solidly for change.WAYNE B SCOTTSmith’s
